As a native Georgia girl and lover of American History, seems like I would be doing a disservice if I didn’t come up with a way to acknowledge President Carter during his birthday month. Jimmy Carter was born in Plains, Georgia 92 years ago! He is the only president born in Georgia. President Carter, who was our 39th president, served from 1977-1981. He is known for his diplomacy and humanitarian efforts. The Carter Presidential Library and Museum are located in Atlanta, since it is the capital of the state where he was born. There is also a museum in his birthplace, which is part of the National Park Service. Carter Museum in Plains Jimmy and his wife Rosalynn are both strong advocates of peacekeeping, human rights, and health care access across the globe.
