Using a Good Deed Challenge to Commemorate September 11th
9/11 Good Deed Challenge I found out about this neat web site from another teacher in my gifted endorsement last fall which is what I referred to in the Periscope replay above. What a great way to turn a tragedy into a positive! I had kids pledge to do a good deed and post them. I don’t know why it won’t post as a link. Just search 9/11 Day or cut/paste this. https://911day.org More Resources for 9/11 Resource List Check out my Pinterest Board for ideas I did show this Flocabulary Week In Rap clip to my 5th graders but please watch first. We covered the War on Terrorism in our curriculum. History is not all flowers and rainbows. It’s probably less intense than those Call of Duty video games and movies they watch. http://youngteacherlove.com/discussing-911-in-our-classroom/ http://www.scholastic.com/browse/collection.jsp?id=844 https://www.911memorial.org/learn/youth-and-families http://www.ktts.com/news/national/teaching-911-how-educators-reach-a-generation-of-americans-who-dont-remember https://www.brainpop.com/socialstudies/ushistory/september11th/ http://www.timeforkids.com/news/us-remembers-september-11/102811 http://www.scholastic.com/911day/ I have a Picture Dictionary about the War on Terrorism with more resources and three different versions of my Picture Dictionary format and a Picture Bank.
